As an intuitive artist, I see and sense in colors and relay that information artistically. As this method of relaying information is not static, rather very fluid with movement of color and images and feelings and other senses, it is more abstract in design. Therefore, the image itself has meaning in layers. It is a relation between the colors and experiences and the feelings and thoughts that it evokes. It offers us the opportunity to see something from different perspectives. When you view the image, open yourself up to receive what your senses tell you.
Everyone has intuition, and can create art. Remember that you don't have to be at the level of some of the great artists like Van Gogh. Just be you. Let your own art shine through. There is no right or wrong. Intuitive Art is actually used often in the counseling field under the term, Art Therapy.
You may recall when you were younger drawing images and paintings. Much of what you were doing was developing that part of you brain to express yourself. Well, that is what art therapy is - and what intuitive art is. Similarly, for those that use automatic writing - it is opening the doorwar to allow what comes through in writing rather than in images.
Now, to assist me in doing focusing on my senses during art, I like to listen to music. I choose the type of music depending on what I feel I need. My range is everything from bineural frequencies to heavy metal, and everything in between. I prefer music with no lyrics, just sound and beats. Again, it is depending on what I feel I need to pull out what I am feeling.
Once I get going in my art piece, I will sit there and just "go" and do what I "feel" is right. Once I am done, and I am looking at the piece, it's like a puzzle I am slowly piecing together. Sometimes, I start with one thing and end of up with something completely different. It is all a journey. Each piece is unique. On many occasions, I don't recall how I created certain pieces. Especially so with computer graphic art. I am clicking so many things to create the image I am feeling, I will not remember what I did to create my piece.
Art is a great way to express what is within you, and it's important to remember that art is more than just drawing or painting. The list is endless. Consider anything creative to be art.
